Aspiration's non-profit technology summit

This week I am reaching the hundredth node mark on this site. Every piece of content on this site is considered a 'node' by the core Drupal software. If that explanation is not enough for you, check here, or don't worry about it, it doesn't matter. To humans, content is images, words, sounds, etc. I feel like I am starting to hit my stride with blogging as I understand it's potential and meaning more and more. This is very different from the media consumption I am surrounded by. The internet is about participation and control by the many. Next week I'll be blogging from a technology summit in Oakland, California focusing on the non-profit sector's use of technology.

I have added roughly 100 pieces of content to this site since I started it this summer. Well, I can't entirely call it 'starting' this summer, because I have personally delved into the world of the internet seriously since leaving college and into the Drupal community 4 solid years ago. I have attempted to start other blogs, but ended up breaking the sites, or just getting lost in the intent. This site is different. I am more focused and I have actively and successfully maintained my Drupal 6.x installation. I am starting to hit my stride with blogging regularly, and I can see the beauty of Drupal and it's vast potentials very well. I now care enough to see it become part of my platform. The Drupal community has my attention, and it holds amazing prospects for being the top layer of a globally diverse, distributed and powerful communications platform for the masses.
Of course Drupal could not exist without the inception of the Internet itself. And I consider myself an internet user before a Drupal user. I believe the principal of the internet is in-line with the goal of a peaceful, just, free and prosperous global society. That is why I will be gathering with 100 other people in Oakland California next week to discuss how we can make technology better for the non-profit business model. Aspiration is organizing the event, and they accepted my request for scholarship(reduced) rate in exchange for helping out with choirs and blogging the event! I am getting very excited for 3 solid days of sharing ideas and learning.
