I met David in 2008 when he was just entering Middle school in Cupertino. This was a large transition and he was 90 percent mainstream, with one period where he would get extra help from a VI specialist on campus. I spent roughly 2 weeks with David, and kept in touch with him throughout his 6th and 7th grade years. One day while we were jogging around the track for PE, he told me about a Korean Mythological figure who was a blind warrior. He said as a kid, this gave him confidence that he could do just about anything.
