I just sent off an email to the entire middle school where I work as a substitute art teacher telling them that 2 periods of kids will be doing chalk drawings all around campus. Until now only the principal and our classes knew what we were up to. And tomorrow the rest of the students should be walking over and around the drawings and talking, scoffing, laughing, marveling, and what-have-you about them.
All of the kids have seemed somewhat bored with this project, I think maybe it's something about immediate gratification and having to wait a whole month to do this drawing. However there are some kids who I can tell were excited and will be making some really nice drawings. We had one practice day outside of the room where they got to play with the chalk(picture is student work) and they loved that. But it is something totally different to do a drawing where the entire middle school will see it and talk about it. We all know that Middle school can be a horribly emotional place, so I am super excited to kick back and enjoy the day unfolding as these drawings happen and hear what people think.
