EXPERIENCE
As a practicing graphic designer, I have developed a unique understanding of the profound importance and influence that the communications environment has in helping to create the social fabric of society. I have been drawn to the foundational sectors in my local community and have strove to understand how we can foster the development of free and open communications technology to enhance self-sufficiency and sustainability for health, education, government, the economy, and society at large. I enjoy connecting with other socially engaged individuals and am passionate about cross-cultural exchange. I think differently and learn quickly, and I believe I offer innovative perspectives to re-developing Industrial/Technology program, and CTE in general, in our public education. I am looking to innovate through the Industrial Arts.

- Built a fully functional model of a woodshop in my garage, as I would in a school. I have started cutting stock and designing project curriculum on my own time. — Summer 2010
- Hyde Middle School (CUSD) Apprentice, Woodshop (Neal Wooley) — 2009-2010 school year.
Once a week I attended Neal Wooley's woodshop to observe and help. He integrates his previously taught subjects into his current woodshop curriculum along with experiential life-learning.
- Substitute Teacher, Cupertino Union School District — Sept 2004-Dec 2005 & Aug 2007-June 2009
Substitute teaching has been one of my strongest personal growth experiences. It has taught me to think
quickly and creatively to guide a class away from the total chaos that we often imagine a sub faces. Beyond the lesson plans that a sub is left to work with, most of my days were filled with engaging primarily middle school students in the learning process and helping them to cultivate knowledge, learning, and respect for one another.
- Housing Search Specialist, Housing Department, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County — Feb 2006-July 2007
Fielded information and referral calls for individuals in need of housing, or experiencing housing problems in Santa Clara County. I also helped maintain the program's statistics in the database and organized shared-housing meet-ups to facilitate matches between housing seekers and potential providers. This position offered me a more realistic and well-rounded perspective of the Bay Area's diverse social strata.
- Childcare Provider (Manny) — 2003-2005
Provided daily care for a internationally adopted child. This was an integral personal experience that influenced my present desire to pursue a career working with children.
- Graphic Designer/Photographer — 2000-Present
Pursued commercial design work for a year after graduating from college before transitioning to the non-profit community to pursue work in the areas of print design, photography, and videography. I was also the primary digital photographer for a non-profit newsletter for two years, which included co-managing photo shoots.
